Built-in features on this page: fixed right column, simplistic layout, navigation bar, use of space on the page to reduce crowdedness, pre-margined/spaced photo placeholders(all three of my photos are different but still look appropriate on the page), and page links at the bottom. This was a quick way to have an professional basic blog page. By adding background photos and more features such as shadows, fonts, etc, the page will start to develop more character.
